Dale Gensler and Hillary Ellis Win DU’s Client Counseling Competition

The ABA Law Student Division’s Client Counseling Competition simulates a law office consultation in which law students, acting as attorneys, are presented with a client matter. The students conduct an interview with a person playing the role of the client and then explain how they would proceed further in the hypothetical situation. The focus is on the competitors’ ability to negotiate the most advantageous settlement for their client(s), given the circumstances and facts provided. Competitors are scored on professionalism and ethics, as well as their style and negotiating strategy.

DU’s Client Counseling Competition is part of the ABA National Client Counseling Competition and requires teams of two to conduct an initial client interview who presents a variety of legal and ethical issues.  This year’s competition at DU had a number of great competitors.

Congratulations to Hillary Ellis and Dale Gensler who won the 2012 Client Counseling Competition and represented DU on the national stage.  Great job!
